Explorer Post 911 is made up entirely of high school students, ages 14–18, who share a passion for helping others and learning about emergency medical services. Members come from diverse backgrounds but work together as a team—training, responding, and leading alongside their peers.
Explorer Post 911 trains high school students to become the next generation of EMS providers. Members learn life-saving skills, participate in community events, ride along on real emergency calls, and develop leadership through hands-on service. From classroom learning to field experience, we prepare our members to make a difference when it matters most.

Certified EMTs can ride on ambulances, assist during emergencies, and work alongside professional responders.
Explorer Post 911 operates as a student-led, student-run program with guidance from experienced EMS advisors. Members train together, support one another, and take on leadership roles while following a structured schedule of meetings, training sessions, and community events. Through teamwork, mentorship, and hands-on experience, we prepare members to serve both in the field and in their communities.

High school students ages 14–18 who live in or attend school in Greenwich, CT (or surrounding areas) and have an interest in EMS, healthcare, or community service are welcome to apply.
No experience is required. We’ll teach you everything you need to know, from basic first aid to advanced EMS skills, through hands-on training and classroom sessions.
Yes! Once you complete the required training and, become a certified EMT, you can participate in ride-alongs with Greenwich EMS and assist during real emergency calls.
The Post meets regularly for training and events, and members are expected to participate in ride-alongs, community events, and leadership activities. Time commitment can vary depending on your involvement and role.
No, there’s no cost to join the Post. However, if you choose to take the EMT certification class, there is a separate tuition fee for that course.
